Cloth Simulation

Here I used a straightforward mass-spring model to simulate a cloth blowing in the wind. The cloth is composed of a series of stretch, shear, and bend springs and dampeners in a grid like pattern. Each time step the forces from these spring dampeners and gravity are applied to the grid of point-masses, and cloth like behavior is achieved. For integration, I used a custom integrator (similar to a Verlet integrator).

The cloth is a grid of 16x16 point masses, with the upper corners fixed in position.

 
 

This video shows the mesh in motion. A "wind" force is constantly applied from the rough direction the camera starts originates in.
